In my early twenties, before the explosion of the internet I took a cross country road trip with my father. On Highway 20 entering into Arizona there was a gas station that had gas for over 6 dollars a gallon. (Can’t even imagine what it is now) They had all these signs that they were the last gas station for the next 150 miles and sorry but no other option. I filled up my truck, sort of shrugging my shoulders, and saying “Well we need gas to make it.” You can imagine the sinking feeling in my stomach when we passed a gas station with normal prices only a few miles down the road.
